英語短縮形一覧69選｜基本の省略形からスラングまで

英語の短縮形（contractions）は、I am → I’m、do not → don’tのように語を短くつないだ形です。このページでは標準的な短縮形46項目と、くだけた発音を写した綴りなど23項目を分けて紹介します。

she’sとI’dは、後ろの動詞から見分ける

短縮した文	元の形	意味
She’s reading a novel.	She is reading a novel.	彼女は小説を読んでいます。
She’s finished the report.	She has finished the report.	彼女はレポートを書き終えました。
I’d like some tea.	I would like some tea.	お茶をいただきたいです。
I’d already left.	I had already left.	私はすでに出発していました。

gonnaは、未来の予定などを表すgoing toのくだけた発音を写した形です。I’m gonna study. は会話向けですが、「学校へ向かっている」の I’m going to school. を I’m gonna school. にはできません。supやsecは語句を切り詰めた省略で、I’mと同じ文法上の短縮形ではありません。

確認問題：She’s waiting. の ’s は is、She’s written a letter. の ’s は hasです。短縮形を使わない場合は、She is waiting.／She has written a letter. に戻します。
